Where do we grow our potatoes and what are the most common varieties used?

Most of our potatoes are sourced locally from Co. Meath and Co. Dublin potato growers. Saturna, Lady Clare and Rosetta are the varieties predominantly used.

What are the nutritional benefits in crisps?

Savoury snacks are made from natural raw ingredients such as potatoes, grains (e.g. wheat, maize), starch and vegetable oils.

All savoury snack products contain vital nutrients (carbohydrate, fats, proteins), micronutrients in the form of minerals, vitamins and fibre and offer a quick and convenient source of energy.

What is the most commonly consumed pack size?

A 25g packet is the most commonly consumed pack size in Ireland.

How many packs of potato crisps does the average person in Ireland eat per week?

According to IUNA (Irish Universities Nutrition Alliance) the average Irish child consumes about 13 grams of savoury snacks per day. That’s equivalent to half a 25g pack of savoury snacks per day, or 3 packs per week. The average Irish adult consumes less than 2 packs per week.

How long does it take to turn a potato into a bag of potato crisps?

About 12 minutes from peeling the potato to putting the crisps into the packet.

What do you cook your crisps in?

All of Largo Foods crisps are cooked in sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is a key contributor of vitamin E.

What is sunflower oil and why is it good for me?

Sunflower oil is light in taste, contains more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil and is high in polyunsaturated and low in saturated fat.

What crisps are not suitable for people with allergens?

All of our packaging clearly states specific allergen information for the 12 allergens which are under legislation.

What is the average amount of calories in a packet of crisps?

An average 25 gram pack of potato crisps provides approximately 125 to 150 calories.

How little salt is there in an average packet of crisps?

Largo Foods have significantly reduced the salt levels across our crisps and snack products. In addition, all new products are developed with the goal of decreasing salt levels with no taste compromise.

What is the difference between salt and sodium?

Sodium and salt are not the same. Sodium is a key component of salt, which has been used traditionally to preserve and flavour food products.
